Entry to the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary is free but to entry into Rajaji National Park is through permits. Permits are available at all entry gates to the park.

The Benog Wildlife Sanctuary is part of the Rajaji National Park. The sanctuary is located 11 kms from the Library Chowk on the Mall Road. The sanctuary is surrounded by pines, old cedar trees and medicinal plants that grow in abundance around the region. This area of natural beauty and biodiversity is full of flora from majestic deodars to colourful wildflowers that blanket the meadows.

Over the years, Benog Wildlife Sanctuary has developed into a bird watching haven, being home to a wide variety of birds such as White Capped Water Redstart and Red Billed Blue Magpie as well as Mountain Quails. The location also offers fantastic views of the snow-capped Chaukhambha and Bandarpunch peaks. This is a good spot to visit for sunrises and sunsets.

Some of the animals that can be found here include the Himalayan goat, panther, leopard, deer and the bear.

Visitors can also cover Cloud's End and Hathipaon Estate which are popular tourist spots in Mussoorie!

While the sanctuary is open year-round, the best time to visit is between April to November.
