It is at an elevation of 8000 mtrs above sea level.  Lal Tibba is the local term for Red Hill.  On a clear day, one can see the valley on one side and the snow-capped Himalayan range on the other side.  Landour was a British Cantoment area during the British Raj.

Located on Depot Hill in Landour, Lal Tibba offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan mountain peaks.  The telescopes installed at the point allow you to view the peaks of Badrinath, Kedarnath and Banderpunch.  It is also a great destination for trekking on the rocky trails or taking a forest walk.

Lal Tibba still has houses in the area built in the old British architechtural style.  These are now being used by the Indian Military services and Broadcasting stations like Doordarshan and All India Radio   There are also a number of markets in the area which makes it popular for the shoppers.  One can take a 6 km trek from the Mall Road to Lal Tibba.  While this takes approximately half an hour to complete, most people enjoy stopping on the way and taking in the scenic views or eating at the stalls along the way.
